Share, Encourage, Grow and Love was the theme set for our 1stKL Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade Fun & Fellowship Camp. This theme was derived from the bible verse of Psalms 133:1 which reads “How good & pleasant it is when God’s people live together in Unity.” The camp was planned in a period of 2 months and with God’s grace, the camp was still a success even though it was planned in such a short period of time.
The camp was held from 15th till the 18th of November 2013 at Wesley Methodist Church Kuala Lumpur. With the objective of the camp which was to develop unity among members through fun and games, the camp was equipped with team building challenges, sports challenges and even games that required initiative from all members. Furthermore, the purpose of this Fun & Fellowship camp was also to gather the members in 1st Kuala Lumpur and have a time of fellowship with each other through adventurous activities, such as challenging the fear of heights in Skytrex activities. With this Fun & Fellowship Camp, it would be a kick start for the girls and boys from both companies to get to know one another as we would be collaborating to celebrate 1st KL BB’s & GB’s 60th Anniversary.
As a committee member in the planning committee, there is no doubt that I did learn a lot from planning to organizing and also executing. I have also learnt how to work together with new people and also accept different points of view on arising matters. Besides that, it was also my first time holding the responsibility as a camp commandant and I realized that this task was not easy as there were about 80 participants that I have to keep an eye on especially their safety. I also needed to make sure that every activity that was planned run smoothly. However, it was still a good experience and I did enjoy myself too.
In conclusion, I can conclude that this Fun & Fellowship camp has managed to bring the younger kids to bond together with the older ones as both sides of the brigades, not only the boys and girls but also the officers as well.
